About me

Hey welcome to this blog, my name is Astrid and I live in Tongeren (Belgium).

My whole life I’ve been passionate about all kinds of sports. It made me aware of the importance of our body and how we should take care of it.
Two years ago I have totally transformed my lifestyle; I started to realize how eating healthy and clean can improve your sports performance and how it can make you feel so much better.

I have always had a big passion for cooking. In my leisure I love to try new foods and create and photograph healthy recipes. On this blog, I will share some of my best food recipes with you 😉

I hope that this blog can encourage people to buy fresh, in season ingredients. And hopefully, my recipes will enrich your knowledge in the kitchen and will make you feel like cooking every day.

XO Astrid

5 forgotten vegetables

Nowadays, people often choose for the same, easy to get food. But this is a pity! The key to success for a healthy lifestyle is VARIATION in what you eat! Discover here some forgotten vegetables which you should definitely try.

  1. BEETROOT
You can buy beetroot the whole year round, but there is a difference between winter and summer beets. The summer version is smaller and the winter beet is usually cooked and without foliage. Both are sweet in taste. I recommend you to try my delicious beetroot salad with feta cheese.

2. JERUSALEM ARTICHOKE
The Jerusalem artichoke is not an everyday vegetable, but it doesn’t make the artichoke any less delicious. There are several ways to prepare the artichoke, for example you can roast them and these roasted Jerusalem artichokes are delicious to eat with your white fish

3. PARSNIP
Are you looking for a tasty and easy substitute for mashed potatoes? How about parsnip? It is easy to prepare and I am sure that the soft and creamy taste will please you.

4. RAMMENAS
Every person needs vitamin C. And that’s why you need to try out the vitamin-rich winter radish named ‘rammenas’. Thanks to his spicy flavour, you can make a delicious risotto from it.

5. RUTABAGAS
Last but not least: the rutabagas. People often forget they are edible, and that’s a shame because their sweet taste makes your dish complete. Just like the parsnip, you can use it as a tasty and very easy substitute for mashed potatoes.
